As retribution for leaving the national team camp following his heated confrontation with head coach Jorge Jesus, the 41-year-old is serving his sentence.

The regulations of the federation have caused this suspension to be automatically initiated.

The duration of his ban will reportedly be determined by a disciplinary council that will convene shortly.

Ronaldo may spend one to six months behind bars.

After apologising in public, Ronaldo conceded he should have been penalised.
