The government of Governor Uba Sani has been compensating homeowners whose homes were damaged over the past 3.5 years due to road construction, as was revealed by Sani himself.
Since taking office, the governor of Kaduna State has rewarded 4,865 households in the three senatorial zones, spending over N7 billion.
While launching the property compensation payment to 865 households, totalling almost N2 billion, for the construction of roads in Zaria, Giwa, and Shika townships on Saturday, he made this announcement.
“Since taking office on May 29, 2023, we have remained guided by the conviction that development must advance human dignity,” Governor Uba Sani said in his speech at the ceremony.
“Delivered fairly, infrastructure gives physical expression to progress, but whether citizens experience government as a source of reassurance and opportunity is determined by infrastructure,” he continued.
He stated that the rebuilding of eleven township roads in the Zaria and Sabon Gari Local Government Areas, as well as the Giwa and Shika township roads, demonstrates their commitment to enhancing connectivity and boosting economic activity.
Communities will be located closer to healthcare facilities, schools, and other necessities as a result of these investments, which will also facilitate trade and travel. The chances they provide and the quality of life they assist secure will be the measures of their enduring value, he said.
But the Governor recalled that throughout the course of the project, residences, companies, and public utilities were located inside the specified rights-of-way.
He maintained that responsible action necessitated treating the human impacts of construction with the same level of seriousness as the engineering requirements.
Affected families will get these incentives to help with moving costs, building costs, and reorganising their livelihoods.
Citizens whose property is needed for public development have an obligation that must be met, and compensation does just that.
