CAPS at JAMB closes as admission opens

The Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has been temporarily shut down.

This occurs in the midst of the nationwide tertiary institution admissions process.

The main platform that JAMB utilises to handle admissions to colleges of education, universities, and polytechnics is called CAPS.

Technical issues related to its hosting agreements caused the platform to go down.

In an effort to restore the system, the board was in contact with the organization hosting the CAPS platform, according to a statement from Dr. Fabian Benjamin, Acting Director, Public Affairs and Protocols at JAMB.

“The Board is particularly conscious of the timing of this disruption, given that CAPS is the central platform through which admissions into tertiary institutions across the country are processed,” JAMB states.

“The Board is providing this update while all necessary efforts are being made to restore the platform, rather than leaving candidates, institutions, and other stakeholders to speculate about the cause of the disruption.”
