To make sure that the communities that are supposed to profit the most from the PIDACC/NB Program for Integrated Development and Adaptation to Climate Change are getting the most out of it, the federal government has ordered its rapid implementation.
During a meeting with Baba Musa, the National Project Coordinator of PIDACC, and the Managing Directors of the four participating River Basin Development Authorities, the directive was given by Professor Joseph Utsev, Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation.
Ecosystems, natural resources, and vulnerable communities in the Niger Basin can be better defended against the impacts of climate change, according to Utsev’s description of PIDACC as a strategic intervention.
“The program is critical to national socio-economic development, hence the need for greater commitment and urgency in addressing implementation challenges” , stated he.
He believes that the program’s effectiveness should be judged not by the quantity of initiatives launched or the amount of money donated, but by the actual enhancements it brings to the lives of those who receive it.
