Saviola Godwin Otu, the media officer for Kun Khalifat FC, has been suspended for five games by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) due to an unprofessional publication and disregard for the league’s invitation.
The league also fined Otu N200,000.
Following Kun Khalifat’s Matchday Nine encounter against Doma United, a statement and a video of a post-match altercation involving an injured coach were shared on X, which prompted the suspension.
The publication and dissemination of graphic content, according to the NPFL, was improper and at odds with the professionalism required of a club media officer.
It further stated that the post gave the league a bad reputation and might erode public trust in the game as well as lead to conflict between teams and supporters.
Otu’s refusal to accept the league’s offer to resolve the issue was another reason given by the league, which described it as a significant problem requiring disciplinary action.
In order to guarantee a thorough investigation and suitable response, the NPFL advised clubs and their media officials to direct sincere complaints about match situations through established channels.
